County commission to consider employment matters, bid awards

Employment matters, bid awards, updates, and an executive session are among the items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday.

About the meeting

Saline County Commission is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. The meetings also can be viewed on Saline County’s YouTube channel:

Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to consider an amendment to County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes' employment agreement. According to information in the commission meeting packet, the amendment would include setting Smith-Hanes base salary as of Jan. 1 at $130,980 per year.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider reappointing Dr. David Dupy as district coroner from Jan. 1, 2022 through Jan. 1, 2026. According to the commission meeting packet, Dupy is requesting that his monthly compensation for fiscal year 2022 be increased at the same percentage as pay increases for county employees (three percent). That would raise his monthly compensation from $3,700 to $3,811. He also is requesting that his monthly compensation be increased in the same manner for subsequent years of his contract.

Other items on the county agenda for Tuesday include the following.

●Consider a bid award for a Utility Terrain Vehicle for the Saline County Sheriff's Office - Sheriff Roger Soldan

●Consider a bid award for thermal imaging cameras - David Turner, Rural Fire District No. 5 chief

●Consider a Rural Housing Incentive District funding agreement - Smith-Hanes

●Hear the idle fund report from Jim DuBois, county treasurer

●Hear the quarterly budget update

●Hear Smith-Hanes weekly update

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to meet in executive session concerning a non-elected personnel matter.
