Texas man causes three-vehicle accident in central Salina

A Texas man was cited after a three-vehicle accident Monday in central Salina.

Ryan Hernandez, 36, from Texas, was northbound on S. Santa Fe Avenue in a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe when he failed to stop for the red light at Prescott Avenue, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The accident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. Monday.

The Tahoe struck a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Robert Freelove, 50, of Salina, that was eastbound on Prescott Avenue. The impact caused the Grand Cherokee to spin around and strike a westbound 2010 Dodge Charger driven by Dominic Brown, 26, of Salina, Forrester said.

The Tahoe had front-end damage and was removed by Hernandez. The Grand Cherokee sustained passenger-side damage and was towed from the scene. The Charger had front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Hernandez was cited for disobeying a red light, Forrester said.
