Slate of candidates set for races in Saline County

The slate of candidates for this fall's election in Saline County is set.

The Saline County General election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Following are the races in Saline County, according to the Saline County Election Office.

Salina City Commission

Eight candidates are vying for three seats on the Salina City Commission. Those seats are currently held by Aaron Peck, Melissa Rose Hodges, and Mike Hoppock. Candidates for the three commission seats include the following.

Assaria City Council

Two people have filed to run for three council seats (four-year terms). Those positions are currently held by AJ Boyer, Bill Mondt, and Rick Tanner. Candidates for the three council seats are:

Brookville City Council

One person has filed for the Brookville mayor position (two-year term) and two others have filed for five council seats (two-year terms). The mayor currently is Ralph Johnson. Those currently holding council seats are Shawn Fisher, David Graf, Tony Wolff, Faye Woodson, and Joe Wright.

Incumbent Ralph Johnson has filed for mayor. Candidates for the council positions include the following.

Gypsum City Council

One person has filed for the Gypsum mayor position (four-year term) and three people have filed for two open council positions (four-year term). The mayor currently is Sandy Kruse. Those currently holding council seats are David Jackson and Michael Russell.

Incumbent Sandy Kruse has filed for mayor. Candidates for the council positions include the following.

New Cambria City Council

Three people are vying for three council seats (four-year terms). Those seats currently are held by Melissa Fowler, Brenda G Henderson, and L E (Joker) Henderson. All three have filed for re-election.

Smolan City Council

Three people have filed for three council seats (four-year terms). Those seats currently are held by Rochelle Albers, Kelly Jester, and John E. Noeller. All three have filed for re-election.

Central Kansas Extension District No. 3

Two people, including one incumbent, have filed for two board member positions (four-year terms). Those positions currently are held by Nancy Bowden and Matthew Everhart. Candidates for the two board positions include the following.

Dayton Drainage District No. 1

No one has filed for three board of director positions (four-year-terms). Those positions currently are held by Mike Reinbold, Greg Swenson, and Randy White.

Salina USD 305

Three people, including two incumbants, have filed for three seats on the board of education (four-year terms). Those positions currently are held by Emma Doherty, Jim Fletcher, and Gabe Grant. Candidates for the three board positions include the following.

Southeast of Saline USD 306

Three people have filed for District 1 Position 4, two people have filed for District 2 Position 5, and one person has filed for District 3 Position 6. The District 1 Position 4 seat currently is held by Lori Blake. The District 2 Position 5 seat currently is held by Jill Ade. The District 3 Position 6 seat currently is held by Steve Bartholomew. Candidates for the three positions include the following.

District 1 Position 4: Kenneth Costigan, Todd Mobray, Stephanie Markle

District 2 Position 5: Jill Ade and Randy Cooper

District 3 Position 6: Steve Bartholomew

Ell-Saline USD 307

Four people have filed for three positions on the school board (four-year terms). Position No. 4 currently is held by Martin Kramer. Position No. 5 currently is held by Heather Hardesty. Position No. 6 currently is held by Shane Schneider. Candidates for the three positions include the following.

Position No. 5: Heather Hardesty and David Hiechel

Position No. 6: Shane Schneider

Additionally, three are elections for three school districts that overlap the Saline County line. They are as follows.

Bennington USD 240

Three people have filed for three positions on the school board (four-year terms). Position No. 4 current is held by Rosemary Neaderhiser, Position No. 5 currently is held by Warren McDougal, and Position No. 6 currently is held by Lorraine Pecenka. Candidates for the three positions include the following.

Solomon USD 393

Three people have filed for four positions on the school board (four-year terms). District 1 Position 1 currently is held by Wade Walker. District 1 Position 4 currently is held by Dustin Dooley. District 2 Position 5 currently is held by Denise Miller. District 3 Position 6 currently is held by Todd Brungardt. Candidates include the following.

District 1 Position 1: Wade D Walker

Lindsborg USD 400

Three people have filed for three positions on the school board (four-year terms). District 1 Position 4 currently is held by Bryce Wampler. District 2 Position 5 currently is held by Chris Baker. District 3 Position 6 currently is held by Chris Bauer. Candidates include the following.
