Hazardous weather outlooks, including smoke and a chance for storms, have been issued for much of the state.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Areas of smoke may cause reduced visibility and lower air quality at times for today and tonight.

A few storms will be possible tonight and Thursday across mainly central and eastern Kansas. Scattered storms will then be possible Saturday evening. Severe storms are not expected with any of this activity.

Dangerous heat is expected to return this weekend and continue into the start of the work week with heat indices generally in the 100 to 105 degree range.

The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Jewell County and Mitchell County.

Chances for thunderstorms enter the forecast this afternoon and through tonight. The best chance for storms looks to be after 4 p.m. Severe weather is not expected at this time, though a few strong storms, producing small hail and gusty winds, are not out of the question.

There are currently three time frames that feature at least small chances for thunderstorms within various portions of the outlook area, those being Thursday afternoon, Friday evening through late

Saturday night, and finally Monday evening into Tuesday. A few strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out for Thursday afternoon. It is still too early to confidently assess the potential for severe storms for Friday evening and beyond.

Our next period of high heat and humidity will arrive between Saturday and Monday, during which time afternoon and early evening heat index values could reach 100 to 107 degrees, particularly in southern and eastern portions of the outlook area.

Although several days away and subject to forecast adjustment, Sunday and Monday currently appear to be the overall-worst days for heat-related concerns.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

There is a slight chance for thunderstorms tonight across north-central, northeast, and east-central Kansas.

Thursday through Tuesday, the probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.
