KSHSAA state baseball and softball tournaments will officially get underway this Thursday, and four of our local high school teams have made the cut and will play for state titles this week.

⚾️ Salina Central Mustangs (3rd-place 5A)
The Mustangs pulled off the unthinkable at regionals, defeating the top seed in Maize South 12-8, before eliminating Hutch 3-2, punching their ticket to state as the 16 seed.

⚾️ Salina South Cougars (4th-place 5A)
Not to be outdone, the Cougars went on a similar run through their regional bracket last week, knocking out Great Bend 5-4 and Emporia 6-2 as the 11-seed.

⚾️ Abilene Cowboys (3rd-place 4A)
Abilene's spot at Dean Evans never appeared to be in doubt, as the Cowboys rolled through Winfield 12-2 and Mulvane 7-2 to advance to their third-straight 4A state tournament.

🥎 Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans (3A)
Abilene isn't the only team from our area making a return trip to state, and this year's Lady Trojans arrived in style, knocking out Russell 15-0, Ellsworth 10-3, and Hoisington 2-0 to secure a spot in Topeka.
