UPDATE: Marion County now in a winter weather advisory until 10 p.m.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m. Friday: The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 10 p.m. Friday that includes Marion County.

Freezing rain with a very light ice glaze, mainly on elevated surfaces is forecast.

Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a special weather statement that includes Marion County.

According to the weather service, an icy mix of freezing rain and sleet is expected between noon Friday and 12 a.m. Saturday. The freezing rain and sleet are expected mainly along and east of the Kansas Turnpike.

Light freezing rain and sleet accumulations could make roads slick and cause travel impacts.
