Jane Elizabeth Zacharias, 75, passed away Sunday morning, May 2, with her family by her side as well as her pet (Are Jay) after a long battle with an incurable lung disease.
Jane was born April 12, 1946, in Ransom, Kansas to William (Keith) and Bernice (Shedden) Dannefer. She graduated from Basehor High School in 1964 and Kansas State University in 1968. She would later get her master’s degree in education. She married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Zacharias on June 28, 1969.
She started her teaching career at Clay Center Community High School in the fall of 1969, teaching health and girls’ physical education. Her passion was helping students excel and test their own limits. Jane was an assistant on the first girls track team and started the girls’ volleyball program that continues today and took great pride in her teams, record, and maturity of the girls as they advanced through the years. She retired from teaching in 2004.
She enjoyed camping, traveling, socializing with friends, Kansas State football, and life in general. Jane was a member of Beta, PEO and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two brothers-Dennis and Larry.

Daughter: Erica and husband Devin Ojeda, Manhattan, KS
Grandsons: Hampton, Creighton, and Beckham Ojeda
Sister: Norma Curtice, Basehor, KS
Several nieces, and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews
Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, KS. The service will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/nsrfuneralhome/live

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas
Visitation: 3-7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
