Newman begins extension duties; main office in Minneapolis

Central Kansas Extension District

Lisa Newman will begin serving as the Central Kansas District Family and Community Wellness Extension Agent, effective today.

The Central Kansas District (CKD) has offices in Minneapolis and Salina. Newman's primary office is in Minneapolis.

Newman will provide leadership of research-based educational programming to build healthy, sustainable communities, and families in Ottawa and Saline counties. Her focus will be to improve individual and community health and wellness through proper life cycle nutrition, increased physical activity, chronic disease prevention and management, promotion of food safety and security, strengthening families and relationships, and building community capacity in collaboration with external partners.

Newman earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in family studies and human services from Kansas State University. She has most recently been employed as the director of regional affiliates for the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Newman was previously with CKD from 2012 to 2017 as a Family & Child Development Extension Agent. She also has an extensive background in youth literacy and library learning services.
