The Southeast of Saline Trojans boys basketball team picked up a convincing win tonight over the Kingman Eagles by a final score of 79-49.
With this win, the Trojans advance to the consolation bracket final on Friday, where they will face one of the four remaining teams on that side of the bracket at 4:45pm from Sterling High School.
The Trojans got out to a hot start tonight and took a commanding 42-25 lead into the half.
By the fourth quarter, running clock was in full effect as Southeast cruised to it’s fifth victory of the season and returned once again to .500.
The Eagles had no answer for the ever reliable Eli Sawyers, who dropped 21 in the win, joined in double digits by Camden Spano-Lund with 16.
Nolan Freund was the only member of Kingman in double digit scoring with 16 in the losing effort.
Later this evening, second seeded Sterling will face off against the seven seed in Scott City, and tonight third seeded Hugoton will battle it out with the six seed in Smoky Valley.
The losers of those two games will play tomorrow, with the winner becoming the Trojan opponent in the fifth place game on Friday.
Be sure to stay tuned to Salina Post for more updates on both SES teams as the Sterling Invitational continues.
