Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer got an outstanding effort from its back line in helping the Coyotes play to a scoreless draw with the No. 18 ranked Central Methodist Eagles on Saturday at JRI Hospitality Stadium.

It was a tale of two halves as CMU was on the offensive in the first half, but could not crack Wesleyan's solid defense.

CMU outshot the Coyotes 8-1 in the first half, but Wesleyan keeper Isabella Galvan was able to gather the ball on several shots, while others went errant of target.

In the second half, Wesleyan pressed more offensively, but also stepped up defensive pressure in the defending third, keeping the Eagles from building up scoring chances.

KWU had chances in the 50th minute on Emma Gervy's header, and again in the 73rd on a shot by Emily Martin.

Adriyanna Botello had a shot nearly score in the 82nd minute, but neither side could light the lamp. The Coyotes had one last second frantic try for a goal as Victoria Poon threaded her way through CMU's defense as the final seconds ticked off the clock and fired a shot that missed high as time expired.

KWU had just six shots in the match. CMU finished with 10, only two in the second half.

Galvan had four saves in the match while recording the clean sheet.
