UPDATE: Variety of fun this Halloween season; new listings added

If you're looking for somewhere to take your kids for Halloween, you have lots of options this year. Fun and candy abound as a variety of businesses and organizations are offering Halloween events.

The following events in Salina and Saline County are listed in chronological order and include new listings on Oct. 30 and 31st.

Oct. 29

Salina Area Technical College is sponsoring a free Trunk or Treat from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 29 in the parking lot of Building A. Salina Tech is located at 2562 Centennial Road. There will be a one-way treating route. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite trunk.

Trick-or-treat downtown with Salina Downtown, Inc., and K-State Salina from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 29.

Oct. 30

Salina Parks and Recreation's annual Community Halloween Party is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Salina Fieldhouse, 140 N. Fifth Street, and is open to the entire family. Activities include a Halloween costume contest with prizes, carnival games, and trick-or-treating for children from the department's community partners and businesses.

SM Hanson Music, Inc., will host its third annual trick-or-treat event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. This year, the first 350 trick-or-treaters will receive a black chicken egg shaker. Additionally, candy will be available throughout the event. Social distancing is suggested.

Red, White and Boo..... is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Oct. 30 in the parking lot at 321 S. Broadway Boulevard. Bring kids of all ages for a fun, safe Halloween.

Oct. 31

The Salina Police Department's Cops and Costumes is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot at the Salina Police Department, 255 N. 10th Street.

Retailers at the Central Mall, 2259 S. Ninth Street, are offering safe trick-or-treating from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31.

Salina Fire Department personnel plan to hand out candy and safety items to children from 4-6 p.m. on Halloween unless they are responding to calls during those times. Following are the locations for the four fire stations.

Station No. 1: 222 W. Elm Street

Station No. 2: 1110 S. Santa Fe Avenue

Station No. 3: 2633 Belmont Boulevard

Station No. 4: 669 Briarcliff Road

Salina firefighters also encourage trick-or-treaters to be safe and look both ways before crossing streets.
