A widespread power outage is affecting parts of Dickinson County, including Abilene and Solomon, according to an update from DSO Electric Cooperative.
In a social media post made shortly after 3 p.m., DSO Electric reported that both the Abilene and Solomon substations are down, leaving 100% of those connected to those substations without power. Crews have been dispatched to address the outage, but no estimated restoration time has been given.
Residents are urged to report any emergencies by calling 1-800-376-3533.
The outage comes as the region faces an extreme wildfire risk, with strong winds and dry conditions heightening the potential for fire spread. Officials are urging residents to use caution and avoid any activities that could spark a fire.
More updates will be provided as information becomes available.
