After dropping their first game of the season in Omaha last week, the Salina Liberty rebounded with a 37-13 win over the Sioux City Bandits.

With this win, the Liberty secure the one-seed and home field throughout the 2021 playoffs, heading to Wichita next week at 9-1.

“Our first goal has been attained,” Liberty head coach Heron O’Neal said. “Now we have to look at the injury report to see what we have left and get ready for a good Wichita team next week.”

Sioux City snaps their two game winning streak and falls to 5-5 on the year.

The Liberty took control of this game early and never looked back, striking on a six-yard touchdown pass from Mitch Kidd to Juahem Byrd to take an early 7-0 lead.

Kamal Cass would answer with a two-yard touchdown run to even the score at 7-7 but that would be the last tie of the game as Salina ripped off 30 unanswered points.

Kidd put together another solid performance under center, completing 11-25 for 175 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Fast Ed Smith played a big role in the aerial assault, hauling in two touchdown passes and finishing his evening with 89 yards on four catches.

The Liberty will head to Wichita to wrap up their regular season against the 4-5 Force next Saturday at 7:00.
