MCPHERSON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 2:30p.m. Wednesday in McPherson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Ford Explorer driven by Angel M. Nichols, 41, Park City, was southbound on Interstate 135 one mile north of Comanche Road. The SUV rear-ended a 2025 Western Star semi driven by Jason R. Monarez, 48, Wichita, who was slowing, moving forward and yielding to traffic ahead.
Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensics Center.
Monarez and a passenger Gary C. Larson, 57, Salina, were not injured.
All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
