Police are investigating a hit-and-run wreck that occurred late Monday in central Salina.

A 52-year-old Salina man was northbound on S. Ohio Street in a 1988 Chevrolet 1500 pickup when a southbound compact car, believed to be a Honda, crossed the center line, striking the pickup, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The car then left the scene.

The wreck occurred near the intersection of S. Ohio Street and E. Cloud Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. Monday.

The pickup had front-end damage and damage all along the driver's side. The car is believed to have damage along the driver's side.

Forrester said evidence at the scene indicated that the car was a black Honda.
