County clerk: Only voters who request ballots by mail get them by mail

Posted Oct 21, 2020 12:08 PM

Only Saline County registered voters who requested ballots by mail will receive them.

County Clerk Jamie Doss explained that for every ballot mailed, the clerk's office has a signed application from the voter requesting the ballot.

"We check the applications against the voter’s registration signature before we issue a ballot," Doss noted.

In May, Doss mailed to all registered voters a letter and applications for both primary and general election ballots.

"That was done in May and many voters have forgotten they completed both applications. Kansas law does not allow for sending ballots by mail without an application," Doss explained.

Registered voters who want to check on whether Doss' office has received their ballot applications may do so online at https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView.

Additionally, once Saline County voters have completed their ballots, they can mail them to the clerk's office or drop them off at the ballot collection box located on the front drive of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. The box is located next to the city water department collection box.
