Marvin LeRoy “Swede” Norstrom, 79, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
LeRoy was born on November 8, 1943, in McPherson, KS, the son of Milton and Pearl (Nash) Norstrom. He graduated from Roxbury High School in 1961. LeRoy was a resident of McPherson since 1969, moving from Roxbury, KS. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from the NCRA Refinery where he worked as a welder.
On February 22, 1969, he married Jeanne Kay Grauerholz at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson. They were blessed with two children, Starla Joy and Christopher DeMonte. Jeanne preceded LeRoy in death on March 9, 2018.
Survivors include daughter, Starla Wicker and husband, Brian, of Glendale, AZ; son, Chris Norstrom of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Sydney and Mason Wicker and Crystian Norstrom; brother, Kenneth Norstrom of McPherson, KS; sister-in-law, Sherry Ray of Bedford, IN; nieces, Brenda Becker and husband, Gene, of Wichita, KS, Angie Cundiff and husband, Tony, of Bedford, IN, and Shawna Pemberton and husband, P.I., of Mitchell, IN; and several great and great-great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; parents-in-law, Rex & Iris Grauerholz; sister-in-law, Fern Norstrom; and brother-in-law, Bob Ray.
A private family graveside service will be held at the McPherson Cemetery.
