On Oct. 17, the Smoky View 4-H Club held its first club meeting for this 4-H year, which began on Oct. 1. The meeting was held at the Salemsborg Fellowship Center and virtually, so club members could participate from home.

This club meeting was also the club’s officer training and installation.

Parents ran this meeting instead of the 4-H members. The reason for this was to show the 4-H members how to work in their officer positions in the coming 4-H year.

4-H members also received their Kansas State Fair awards for showing projects at the state fair.

Parent 4-H district council representatives were also elected at this meeting. Kate Littich and Kylie Lofdahl were elected as the district council representatives.

4-H members Emma Littich, Hensli Lofdahl, Marik Anderson, and Brynna Anderson talked to the rest of the club about their experiences at the Northeast Leadership Event this year.

Henry Littich installed the officers of the club by explaining their jobs using different breakfast cereals as a metaphor.

The Smoky View 4-H Club will have its exchange meeting with the Willing Workers 4-H Club on Nov. 21. An exchange meeting is when two 4-H clubs participate in the same meeting. There are usually activities for the clubs to participate in after the meeting.
