Dr. Frank Donald Ferson, 91, of Salina passed away on May 8, 2025. He was born on January 23, 1934, in Girard KS to Sam and Lilly (Coury) Ferson.

Frank graduated high school in 1952 from Girard High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1956 from Pittsburg State University, and his doctorate in dental surgery at UMKC Dental School in 1960. After receiving his doctorate, Frank joined the Air Force where he achieved the rank of Captain. On April 7, 1972, Frank married Carolyn Kay Byrd and together they raised five children (Glynda, Randy, Ron, Kent, and Greg).

Frank practiced dentistry in Salina for 50 years. He took pride in his work and cared deeply for patients and staff. Frank was member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, former President of the Salina Dental Association. Frank was also the former chairman of the Dental Department for Salina Regional Health, former chairman of St. Mary’s School Board, and a member of the Eagles Lodge.

He was an honorary member, and former chairman of Board of Director of Salina Country Club. Frank loved to play golf and play cards with the “boys” at the country club and was a diehard fan of KU sports.

Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lilly Ferson, wife Carolyn “Kay” Ferson, sister LouAnn Ferson, and stepson Kent Ernzen.

He is survived by sons Randy (Donna) Ferson, Ron (Tracy) Ferson; daughter Glynda (Roger) Thomas; stepson Greg (Pat) Ernzen; nine grandchildren; and lifelong friends Jean Barr, John Young, and countless others.

A Rosary will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Ln, Salina, KS 67401. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. following the rosary. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 3350 E Crawford St, Salina, KS 67401. A luncheon will take place at St. Elizabeth following the burial.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in care of Ryan Mortuary.
