Jail project update, fireworks among county agenda items

A jail project update, fireworks, and a study session concerning the Department of Senior Services building project are among the agenda items for the Saline County Commission on Tuesday.

About the meeting

Saline County Commission is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. The meetings also can be viewed on Saline County’s YouTube channel:

Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to hear a jail project update from County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes. According to information from the commission meeting packet, dirt work at the new jail site began Nov. 20. Work on the building pad was scheduled to begin Monday, with the footings and foundations being poured beginning Jan. 10.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider approving a resolution amending Chapter 13, Part C of the Zoning Resolution that will allow the use of permanent structures for retail fireworks sales as provided for in the county Fireworks Resolution and approved through a conditional use permit and commercial permit review.

Other items on the county agenda for Tuesday include the following.
