Finis Oakley (Reed) Shaner, 79, of Green, Kansas died on December 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born on December 8, 1943 in Buffalo, Kansas. In 1949, he was adopted by Benjamin and Lula (Taylor) Shaner.
He married Diana Dodds on July 15, 1966.
Finis spent most of his life as an over the road truck driver, winning several safety awards while putting in over two million miles across the United States and Canada. Even though he may not have been home much, he always loved seeing and spending time with his family. He retired from TSI and then worked for Bob Caley, before quietly settling into his home on the farm outside of Green.
He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Diana Shaner of Green, Kansas; daughters Susan and husband, Stephen Leslie of Clay Center, Kansas and Diana Starr of Carbondale, Kansas; sons Benjamin and wife, Mary Shaner of Pawnee City, Oklahoma and Ricky and wife, Edna McVaugh of Clay Center, Kansas; five grandchildren,Steven Weir, Sherokee Bloodworth, Dakota (Sarah) Bloodworth, Dalton Shaner and fiancee, Katrina Murray and Logan Starr; two great-grandchildren, Kimber and Alexandra Bloodworth; brother Kurt and wife, Phyllis Reith of Chillicothe, Missouri and sister Mary Volpert of Great Bend, Kansas
There will be no services or visitation at this time.
Memorials may be made to Meadowlark Hospice or the Clay County Museum and can be sent c/o the funeral home.
