Bo’s life began on February 28, 1957, the son of Hiram and Dorothy (McLain) Young in Newton, Kansas. He graduated from Fredric Remington High Class of 1975 and then attended Butler Community College on a football scholarship. He married DeVesta Arlene Smith on August 21, 1977 at the Christian Church in Potwin, Kansas.
He was a contract welder and retired as a welding supervisor at ConFab in El Dorado. He loved his family and enjoyed barbequing, creating welding projects with benches and artwork, fishing, hunting, and working in his backyard.
His loving family includes his wife of 44 years, DeVesta, of the home; son and his wife, Ryan and Rachel Young of Jefferson City, Montana; daughter and her husband, Adriane and Grant Bowlin of Whitewater, Kansas; grandchildren (nicknames from grandad in quotes) Matthew “Roscoe” Young and Lilli “Skeeter Bump” Young, Jude “Rufus” Bowlin, Julian “Spanky” Bowlin and Jentry “Fish Bait” Bowlin; brothers, Hiram (Mary) Young of Salina, Oklahoma, Charles Young of El Dorado, Kansas, Floyd (Tina) Young of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters Evelyn Shultz of Potwin, Kansas, Elizabeth Pugh and Edna Place both of Wichita, Kansas; brother-in-law Raymond (Nancy) Smith of Rose Hill, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert “Robby” Young in 2016; siblings Edith Blecher and Kenneth Young.
Bo passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the age of 64 years old.
A come and go celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 23, from 2-4 p.m. at the Scout House, 500 E. Topeka, Whitewater.
