Thomas W. Gott, born February 2, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Salina, Kansas.
He was the beloved son of Wilbur "Bill" Gott and Elsie (Kelly) Gott. Thomas was preceded in death by his father and mother; sister, Judith A. Gott, and brother-in-law, Keith Tannehill.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn "Evey" Gott, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage since their union on May 11, 1963, in Salina. He is also survived by his son, Daniel L. Gott (Peggy); his sister, Joyce Tannehill; grandchildren, Crystal Swihart (Phillip) and Daniel E. Gott (Jessica); two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Sacred Heart High School in 1962, Thomas went on to begin a fulfilling career with the City of Salina Fire Department in 1966. Throughout the years, he attended Fire Training School in Maryland and eventually retired as a Fire Inspector in 1998.
Post-retirement, he found joy in working as a greenskeeper at the Salina Golf Course, where he meticulously cared for the greens and fairway for his fellow golfers. In addition to his professional pursuits, Thomas was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, served on the board of the Salina Municipal Credit Union, and was a longstanding member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Club in Salina. He dedicated his time to volunteering for various events in the community.
Known for his loving and devoted nature, Thomas cherished his role as a husband, father, brother, and uncle. He found immense joy in spending time with his family, especially relishing moments spent with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
Special thanks are also extended to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center and the Salina Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care. Thomas will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to his loved ones, and his commitment to serving his community. May his soul rest in peace.
Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
