Salina man arrested after dispute about bicycle

A dispute over a bicycle resulted in an injury to one Salina man and the arrest of another late Wednesday afternoon.

A 62-year-old Salina man told police that he had been confronted by a known acquaintance concerning a bicycle. The acquaintance, identified as Marcus E. Vinyard, Jr., accused the man of taking the bicycle from him, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning.

Vinyard allegedly struck the man with the handle of a machete, causing an injury to the man's head.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of S. College Avenue.

After a search of the area, the bicycle and Vinyard were located at the residence of another acquaintance, Hanus said.

Vinyard was arrested on the following requested charges, Hanus said.

●Aggravated battery

●Aggravated burglary

●Aggravated endangering of a child (as a child was present when the man was allegedly struck with the machete handle)

●Theft of property
