BROOKVILLE - The Saline County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of $2,300 from a pickup in Brookville.

Harry Black, 25, of Brookville, told deputies that sometime between Friday and Sunday, someone stole $2,300 from an envelope in the console of a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup that was parked in the 100 block of E. Third Street in Brookville, Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander said this morning. Black told deputies that the envelope originally contained $2,600, and $300 of that was left in the envelope.

Black said he thought the doors were locked, but during the course of the investigation, deputies determined that the doors don't lock, Melander said.

Deputies are canvassing the neighborhood to see whether surveillance video might provide clues. The investigation is ongoing.
