David Allen Metzger, 64, of Belleville, IL, born February 15, 1960, in Salina, KS, died Friday, July 12, 2024, at his residence.
Dave was a 26-year United States Air Force veteran. He served in the Heartland of America band at Offutt Air Force base, Nebraska, the US Air Force Band of the Pacific at Yakota Air Force base, Japan, the Band of Mid America at Scott Air Force base, Illinois, and a deployment on the USNS Comfort Hospital Ship. After his Air Force retirement, he played many woodwind instruments in the Edwardsville Municipal band, the University City band, and many small bands.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Metzger; and his mother, Patricia, nee Davis, Metzger.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Denise, nee Aills, Metzger, whom he married on May 2, 1981; daughter, Michelle Wright (Matt Vigil); son, Steven Metzger (Erica Metzger); grandson, Caden Wright; little brother, Brian Metzger; big brother, Randy Metzger; and his stepmother, Shirley Metzger.

Burial with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
