Two men were arrested after a pursuit early this morning in central Salina, and a woman who also was involved is being sought.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, an officer observed a black 1997 Audi A4 traveling northbound in the 600 block of Sheridan Street with a license plate that returned to a 2003 Ford Escape, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning. The officer attempted to stop the car at the intersection of W. Crawford Street and Sheridan Street, however, the car turned east on W. Crawford Street and accelerated.
The pursuit continued in the area north of W. Crawford Street between Ninth Street and Broadway Boulevard. The pursuit lasted for several minutes and eventually the back seat passenger rolled out of the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle jumped out with the vehicle still rolling in the 500 block of S. 12th Street, Forrester explained. The front seat passenger then jumped out as well. All three occupants fled on foot.
The driver, identified as Joseph Case, 27, of Minneapolis, was located a short time later. The front seat passenger, identified as Timothy Collins, 23, of Salina, was also located shortly after. The female passenger was not located.
Speeds during the pursuit reached approximately 50 mph, Forrester noted.
Case was arrested on the following requested charges, according to Forrester.
Felony flee and elude
Reckless driving
Multiple traffic infractions
Violation of a protection order
Collins was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester noted.
Interference with law enforcement
Possession of marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
According to Forrester, the woman who fled the car has been identified and requested charges are pending.
