Early Christmas morning, a heavily-clothed suspect broke into the Rods 5 gas station in Salina and stole $1,500 in merchandise alongside an undisclosed amount of cash.

A passerby reported the burglary to the Salina Police Department at 9:20 a.m. after noticing a broken window at the store at 680 S. Phillips Ave.

"That person was in the store for about three minutes," Tonniges said. "We're trying to identify who that person is... The person was heavily clothed and masked."

According to SPD Lt. Kyle Tonniges, surveillance footage captured the suspect entering the store at 5:45 a.m. and stealing cigarettes, vapes, Swisher Sweets and the cash box.

SPD is currently investigating the burglary. The department provides an online tip submission named Crimestoppers if citizens have information regarding the crime.
