A child was found walking alone in the street before the mother was accused of abandonment.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on June 3 at about 9:40 am, officers were dispatched to a home in west Salina after two people located a 3-year-old girl walking down the middle of the street in the area.
Those people took custody of the child and contacted law enforcement. Officers attempted to determine where the child lived, but were initially unable to identify the child’s residence.
SPD Dispatch began calling residents in the area in an attempt to locate parents. Dispatch made contact with Delfina Soto (26), who was identified as the parent.
The investigation determined Soto left the 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy alone at the residence, without supervision for a couple of hours.
Soto was arrested on two requested charges of Aggravated Child Endangerment.
The child was placed into protective custody.
