Police are investigating the theft of a motorcycle from a Salina residence overnight.

Dalton Holzmeister, 35, of Salina, told police that sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 a.m. Monday, someone stole his white 2008 Yamaha WR 250 XXL-C valued at $5,000, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The motorcycle had a Kansas license plate of 32FHG.

Holzmeister told police that he had parked the motorcycle in his front yard in the 300 block of W. Jewell Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday. When his wife arrived home at 10 p.m. Sunday, the motorcycle was still there, however, when Holzmeister got up at 1:30 a.m., it was gone, Forrester said.

Holzmeister still has the key for the motorcycle in his possession.
