About the Salina Military Affairs Council

Established in 2009,  the Salina Military Affairs Council serves the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce's vital link to local and regional military communities.

They support initiative aimed at enhancing quality of life for military personnel and their families. The organization holds an annual armed forces golf tournament at Great Life Golf & Fitness, which is meant to fundraise for the Salina Military Emergency Relief Fund.

The Emergency Relief Fund was established in 2012 by Charlie Walker. This fund assists local service members facing hardships.

In the past, it has contributed funds to a family with a child who is on a waiting list for a kidney transplant, purchased a plane ticket for a service member to visit their child in ICU and donated to a military family who lost everything in a house fire.
