Both drivers were cited after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in west-central Salina.
Hannah Whiteley, 21, of Salina, was eastbound on W. Crawford Street in a 2013 Nissan Sentra and had just gone through the W. Crawford Street/S. Broadway Boulevard intersection when the vehicle in front of her suddenly slammed on its brakes, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. Whiteley was able to stop in time, but the 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle behind her, driven by Dylan Bowers, 23, of Abilene, was not. The accident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Bowers had undisclosed injuries but refused to be transported to Salina Regional Health Center.
The motorcycle had front and left side damage and was removed from the scene by Bowers, Forrester said. The Sentra had rear driver's side damage and was removed by Whiteley.
Bowers was cited for following too closely and no proof of insurance, and Whiteley was cited for no driver's license in possession, Forrester said.
