LaVerne L. Clintsman

LaVerne L. Clintsman, age 84, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at his residence, in Concordia.  Laverne lived in many states, but considered Concordia his home for more than 60 years.

LaVerne was born on May 5, 1936 in Concordia, Kansas to Lloyd and Emma (Knipschild) Clintsman.

He was a 1955 graduate of Oxford High School in Oxford, Nebraska.  He joined and served in the United States Army where he served in Germany and was honorably discharged in February 28, 1963.

LaVerne married Gloria Bouley in Belleville, Kansas on November 14, 1969, they would of Celebrated 52 years of marriage this November.

LaVerne was a member of the American Legion Post #76, V.F.W. Post #588, of Concordia.

Laverne was proud of being a veteran. He held office at the VFW and played the bugle for years at local funerals. Laverne was a maintenance worker at St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia and he also owned his own jig business, Streeker Manufacturing. He also owned and operated Clintsman Saw Shop sharpening saws of all kinds. He enjoyed children of all ages and taught Hunters Safety Classes at CCCC for many years. He worked for the Fish and Game Department monitoring water levels and fish species on the Republican River a few summers as well.                

His greatest pastime with fishing with his buddies at Milford Lake, or any other body of water with fish in it! The same bunch of buddies was known to frequent the local McDonalds for coffee every day they weren’t on the lake, sometimes making it twice a day. He also enjoyed hunting at Valek farms.

Laverne was a friend to many and will be missed by all.  

LaVerne is survived by his wife Gloria, Concordia, KS; a son, Bob Kohrs (Sharyl), Lindsborg, KS; 2 daughters, Terri O’Connor (Brian), Concordia, KS; Kelly Alderson (Jerry), Sedgwick, KS; He had 4 grandchildren, Seth Alderson Sedgwick, Kansas, Stephanie (Jim) Zamrzla, Ellsworth, Kansas, Ryan (Rebecca) Kohrs San Antonio , Texas, and Justin (Julie) Kretzer Apache, Oklahoma, 8 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, a brother, James Morgan (Nancy), Madison, AL; sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Gary Wisbey, Salina, KS; many nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins who meant a great deal to him, and several inlaws.

 LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Clintsman and, Emma Lunberry as well as his step father Clyde Lunberry, a brother, Carl Clintsman and sister, Eva Hartman.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #76 & V.F.W. Post #588 of Concordia.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral home.   Burial of Cremains will take place at a later time in the St. Concordia, Cemetery.
