A local man was arrested in connection to a residential fire Tuesday morning in north Salina.

Police and fire department personnel were sent to a residence in the 200 block of N. Phillips  a little after 8 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a fire.

Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that there was a disturbance between two of the five people in the residence. One of the two, identified as Brandon L. Kittrell, 35, of Salina, allegedly started a fire in the basement of the residence and then left before police and firefighters arrived.

Hanus said Kittrell was located in a room at the Airliner Motel, 781 N. Broadway Boulevard. During the process of arresting Kittrell, illegal drugs allegedly were found and Kittrell allegedly interfered with the officers.

Kittrell was arrested on two active warrants and the following requested charges, according to Hanus.

●Aggravated arson

●Aggravated burglary

●Possession of a stimulant

●Interference with a law enforcement officer

●Criminal damage to property

●Theft

Fire Investigator Joe Kvacik told Salina Post that the residence sustained very little fire or smoke damage from the incident.
