The Southeast of Saline Trojan track and field team travelled to Abilene yesterday for a difficult meet against some of the best 4A schools in the state.

Despite the stout competition, the SES boys team still managed to take home a convincing victory, while the girls team finished a still impressive seventh place out of twelve schools.

On the girls side, the team finished with 41.5 points, and was the top finisher among teams at or below 3A.

Jentrie Alderson didn’t seem phased by the increased competition, finishing second in both the 1600 and 3200 races.

Ashley Prochazka turned in a second place performance of her own in the 800 to add to a second place finish for the team in the 4x800 meter relay.

On the boys side the Trojans looked dominant, finishing the day with 147 points, 26 clear of Hays in second place.

Wins on the day went to Chase Poague in the 110 and 300m hurdles, and Dylan Sprecker in the 1600 and 3200.

The Trojans also found the podium with second place finishes from Dominic Jacson in the 1600 and 3200, Luke Gleason in the 800, Nakari Morrical-Palmer in the 400, Grant Stumpf in the high jump and the relay team in the 4x400.

Rounding out the spots on the steps were third place finishes from Poague in the 100m dash, Gleason in the 1600, Eddie McVay in the triple jump and the relay team in the 4x100.

Overall the meet was a resounding success for both teams, especially the boys, who solidified their place not only as one of the best teams in division 3A, but also as one of the best teams in the state.
