House sustains $1,000 worth of damage after multiple shots fired

Police are investigating a report of shots fired early Friday morning in southwest Salina.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday, officers were sent to the area of Hageman Avenue and Yale Avenue for the report of multiple gunshots, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning. Officers checked the area and did not find any evidence of gunshots.

Officers then were sent to the 400 block of Venus Avenue at approximately 6:40 a.m. Friday for a report of a house being shot. The persons who lived in the house reported hearing approximately 10 shots. Officers located nine shell casings of unknown caliber. According to Forrester, the garage door of the residence had six bullet holes, the east side of the residence had four bullet holes, and a basement window had a single bullet hole.

There were four persons in the residence at the time the shots were fired. No injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated at $1,000.
