Dorothy Arlene Sandell, daughter of Elmer Danielson and Ida (Sundgren) Danielson was born August 20, 1929 at rural Scandia, Kansas and passed away on December 27, 2022 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Dorothy graduated from Scandia High School.
She was united in marriage to Charles “Pat” Sandell on January 15, 1946 in a double ring ceremony with Pat’s brother Harlan and Veda at the Methodist parsonage in Scandia.
Dorothy was employed at the Scandia State Bank for many years and later as a morning cook at the Kaffee Haus in Scandia, Ks. She was a member of the Scandia United Methodist Church and UMW.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Ida Danielson, husband Pat Sandell, son-in-law Larry Olsen, daughter-in-law Shirley Sandell, one brother, Kenneth Danielson and wife Irene.
She is survived by one son, Dan Sandell and Beckey of Daykin, Nebraska, one daughter, Lola Olsen of Scandia, Kansas, six grandchildren, Emily (Clair) Hoesing of Beatrice, Nebraska, Anne (Jim) Simms of Daykin, Nebraska, Kenny (Tessa) Sandell of Harvard, Nebraska, Lana (Randy) Thayer of Scandia, Kansas, Stacey (Bruce) Runft of Scandia, Kansas, Ryan Olsen of Shenyang, China, 15 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, United Methodist Church, Scandia, Kansas, conducted by Pastor Kathy Aeillo.
Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Meadowlark Hospice or Scandia United Methodist Church.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, Kansas, where the family will greet friends from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m..
