The Alliance for a Healthy Kansas is hosting a Community Conversation on proposed federal Medicaid cuts on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 6:30 - 7:30pm at the Salina Public Library, Prescott Meeting Room, 301 W. Elm St., Salina, KS 67401. The public is invited to attend, and encouraged to sign up if they would like to share their thoughts.
Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall, and Representative Tracey Mann (and their staff) have been invited to attend to hear the concerns of Kansans. The event will also be livestreamed on the Alliance’s Facebook page and a recording sent to the delegation after the event if they are unable to attend in person.
Leaders in Congress are considering massive cuts to Medicaid through the budget reconciliation process, which would terminate health care for millions of Americans. In Kansas, the people who primarily get care through Medicaid are low-income children; seniors in nursing homes or who get care at home; people with disabilities; and pregnant women. These are the populations who would lose coverage if cuts to Medicaid are passed.
Other Community Conversations will take place throughout the week of April 21, with events in Topeka on April 21; Wichita on April 22; and Kansas City on April 24. Information about all events can be found on the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas website.
U.S. Senators and Representatives are currently on a spring recess until April 28, when they will return to Washington, DC, to continue working on the budget reconciliation process.
