Obituary for Irene Richecky Saip | Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home

January 14, 1931 - November 23, 2022

 Irene Richecky Saip was born to Frank and Beulah ((Kopsa) Fisher on January 14, 1931 east of Cuba, KS on the Fisher farm and passed away on November 23, 2022 in Concordia, KS at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 9 days.

Irene grew up on the farm and graduated from Cuba High School in 1949.  She graduated from Fairbury College with a degree in secretary skills.

She was united in marriage on August 2, 1949 to Larry Dean Richecky of Belleville, Kansas. They made their home at the 1863 Homesteaded Richecky Family Farm. to this union, three sons were born, Ray, Dwight, and Jerry.

From an early age, Irene learned to play the piano in grade school and eventually played at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba for decades.

Irene also was a secretary for Richecky Farms, Wes’s Auto Supply, and the Eagles Lodge.

After Larry passed away from leukemia on December 29, 1975, Irene married George Wesley Saip, Jr. (Jude) on September 2, 1978, at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba. They made their home in Enterprise, Kansas where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked at Enterprise Estates as an activity director. 

On her days off, Irene was constantly helping neighbors, friends, and Estates residents get their medications, take them to doctor’s appointments, and various other activities to help as needed. She was always trying to help other people.

Jude and Irene loved to go camping and were members of the Sam’s Camping Club in Enterprise.

On November 29, 2003, Jude passed away and Irene continued living in Enterprise until October 2018 when she moved back to Belleville, Kansas and became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Beulah Fisher, first husband Larry Richecky, and her second husband Jude Saip, son Dwight Richecky,  two brothers, Eugene Fisher and Vernon Fisher,  nephew Gary Fisher;  two stepsons, Garland Saip and Sid Saip, and step-grandson Stacey Saip.

She is survived by her children Ray (Diana) Richecky of Wichita Kansas, Jerry (Shirley) Richecky of Belleville Kansas, grandsons Tyler Richecky, Grant Richecky, Jeff Richecky, and Alan Richecky, granddaughters Kelly Richecky, Jaime Fallesen, Lacy Paredes, and Angela Lang, and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Amos McCarthy and Pastor Guy Fisher, officiating.

Interment will be at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Belleville.
