When the Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer match against Oklahoma Panhandle State University reached halftime on Saturday at JRI Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex, it was hot.
It was so hot in fact, that the game had to be suspended to be completed on Sunday morning.
The end result was a long-delayed 2-1 victory for the Coyotes.
Temperatures on the field on Saturday well exceeded the threshold in which competition should be suspended based on the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature, which takes into account temperature, humidity and wind speed.
The Coyotes led 1-0 at the half after a 10th minute goal by Morgan Spilker, assisted by Alejandro Diaz Castro.
Juan Manuel Lozada Leon scored the second goal for the Coyotes in Sunday's second half in the 57th minute, using a pass from Emilio Rodriguez to send it in.
OPSU got a 69th minute goal to break the shutout.
OPSU outshot the Coyotes 10-9 in the match after nine second half shots.
Spilker, Lozada and Jose Valdez had two shots each to lead the Coyotes. Andrew Cole had four saves.
