A winter storm impacted the region New Year's Day, spreading areas of freezing rain and snow across Mid-America.
Snowfall amounts along and either side of the Kansas Turnpike corridor ranged from roughly 3 to 5 inches, with a narrow strip of 5 to 7 inches across the Wichita metro and adjacent areas of south-central Kansas and northern Oklahoma.
