ASHLAND, Neb. - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Cross Country finished in fourth place out of 27 teams at Saturday's Doane Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic at Mahoney State Park.
The Coyotes were fourth behind a trio of nationally ranked teams in No. 4 Saint Mary, No. 3 College of Saint Mary and No. 11 Dordt. The No. 18 ranked Coyotes did finish higher than No. 15 ranked Doane in the team standings.
Wesleyan was paced by Julian Avila who covered the 8000m course in 24:58.7. Damion Jackson was 18th in 25:02.6, Austin Hess was 19th in 25:03.9, Jake Cruz was 40th in 25:35.7, Austin Schaeffer was 50th in 25:46.5, Ty Davidson was 53rd in 25:49.6, and Brenden Ellis round out the team scorers for the Coyotes in 25:05.2.
Tytus Reed was 59th in 25:54.6, Giovanni Rios was 98th in 26:25.8, Nicolas Martinez was 104th in 26:31.1, Wyatt Johnson was 107th in 26:34.2, Evan Pearce was 170th in 27:21.1, Triston Cottone was 188th in 27:35.1, Nate Chavez was 220th in 28:00.1, Brodie Bradshaw was 226th in 28:08.6, Ian Doss was 230th in 28:14.0, Landon Steeger was 255th in 28:46, Roman Mai was 259th in 28:51.1, and Will Childers was 294th in 29:51.3 to round out the Coyote runners in the race.
College of Idaho had the top three individual finishers in the race led by Daniel Butler with a time of 23:56.1. C of I was the team champion as well with 31 points, followed by Saint Mary with 69 and Dordt with 113. Kansas Wesleyan was fourth with 138 and Doane was fifth with 200.
