Late Saturday night, a black Honda Civic drove across the intersection of Seventh and Ash streets and struck a 75-year-old Salina resident crossing the street in a crosswalk before driving away from the scene of the incident.

Salina Police Department Capt. James Feldman said just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, someone reported the alleged hit-and-run, but the report did not record if it was a witness or the victim.

"A vehicle that was stopped at the intersection proceeded forward and struck him [the victim] and then left the area," Feldman said.

Due to the low speeds of the incident, the victim had minor injuries like skin abrasions, and emergency services transported him to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.

Feldman said the report described the Honda Civic as a 2020 or newer model with a male driver.

Salina Post will update the story as more information becomes available.
