JEWELL COUNTY –One person was injured in a small plane crash in Jewell County.
Just before 8a.m. Monday, a Mankato, Kansas resident flying his experimental aircraft experienced mechanical difficulties just after taking off, according to the Jewell County Sheriff's office.
The pilot attempted to turn the plane around but lost control and crashed onto the east side of the runway.
EMS transported the pilot to the Jewell County Hospital and then he was airlifted to a Wichita hospital for treatment of critical injuries, according to the sheriff's department.
Authorities have not released the pilot's name.
