KANSAS CITY - On Sunday, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Kansas City Royals would officially be calling up minor league slugger Jac Caglianone.

Caglianone was drafted by the Royals with the sixth overall pick in last year's 2024 MLB draft and played just 50 games in the minors before getting the call.

In his limited minor league tenure, Caglianone was spectacular, blasting 15 home runs and 56 RBIs while hitting .322 and slugging .593.

As of June 2nd, the Royals do have a winning record at 31-29, but sit in fourth place amidst a stacked AL Central, and a game out of the AL's third wild card spot.

While Kansas City's pitching has been spectacular this season with the league's second-best ERA (3.13), the Royals sit just 15th in MLB in batting average, and 26th in slugging percentage, two areas KC hopes Caglianone can help them improve down the home stretch.
