The Southeast of Saline softball team collected two more wins this week with a pair of 13-3 victories over Abilene on Friday.

The Trojans got great pitching performances from Carly Commerford and Bryna Baird, who combined to allow just six earned runs on eight hits and struck out 12 batters on the day.

The Cowgirls kept things close in the first game, taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. But SES rattled off 12 unanswered runs to take the opener in a game that saw seven different Trojans drive in a run.

Game two was all Southeast, as the team picked up right where they left off, opening the bottom of the first with an eight run explosion and never looking back.

From there, Baird did what she needed to do to close the door and complete the sweep of Abilene, with SES advancing to 4-0 on the season.

In addition to an undefeated record, Southeast of Saline has won all of it’s games by mercy rule and has outscored their opponents by 36 runs through the first two series’ of the season.

The Trojan softball team will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Salina for a two game set with rival Sacred Heart.
