A New Cambria man intentionally attempts to crash into an officer during an active police pursuit, before his arrest on multiple allegations.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on April 1 at around 2:30 am, an officer on patrol located a silver 2015 Chevy Traverse with an expired tag on the 600 block of S. Broadway.
The officer went to conduct a traffic stop in the 800 block of W. Crawford, but the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle traveled south on Sheridan, reaching top speeds of 65 mph in a 30 mph zone. The suspect then ran a stop sign in the area of Sheridan and Venango.
Shortly after, the officer terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.
However, the suspect continued traveling and another officer spotted the vehicle in the 300 block of W. Jewell.
The officer noticed the vehicle was intentionally driving towards their direction at a high rate of speed. The officer then made an evasive maneuver to avoid impact.
The suspect however, made contact with the officer's passenger door, but was not injured.
Afterwards, the suspect then bailed from the vehicle in 200 block of W. Jewell.
A third officer who was in the area, began a foot pursuit of the suspect. The suspect was eventually apprehended after hiding in the 1400 block of S. Santa Fe.
Arrested and booked into the Saline County Jail was Devin Murrell (27) of New Cambria.
Murrell is facing requested charges that include:
