Kansas Wesleyan women's tennis dropped a match to John Brown University on Saturday 6-1 at Salina Central High School.
The Coyotes got their lone point of the match when Zofia Selwesiuk (SR/Wroclaw, Poland) defeated Sydney Smith at No. 1 singles 6-3, 7-5.
KWU also picked up one win in doubles at No. 2 as Michaela Crowe (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) and Eliza Camp (FR/Winfield, Kan.) beat Erin Kuykendall and Caroline Hillock 6-4, but the Golden Eagles would get wins in the other two doubles matches to win the doubles point.
Smith and Abigail Woodring beat Selwesiuk and Karley Benson (SR/Salina, Kan.) 6-4; and Kyla Isaac and Ellie Swan beat Savannah Noel (JR/Portis, Kan.) and Kaitlyn Wrye (FR/Olathe, Kan.) 6-4.
In the other singles matches, Kuykendall beat Benson 6-1, 6-2; Woodring beat Crowe on a retirement in the second set; Hillock beat Camp in a closely contested match 6-7, 6-3, 10-8; Hayvnn Prude beat Noel 6-4, 7-5 and Swan beat Avery Soto (FR/Pueblo, Colo.) 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.
The Coyotes were also scheduled to play Hastings College on Saturday, but the match was canceled after inclement weather rolled into the area.
Next action for the Coyotes is on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida as the Coyotes take on Aquinas (Mich.) to start five consecutive matches in Orlando. KWU returns home March 18 to take on Texas Wesleyan.
