Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau
The holiday season is almost here, and Abilene is getting ready for Pink Friday, a celebration that encourages shoppers to Shop Local First.
Inspired by the Boutique Hub, this cheerful event is set to make Friday, November 21 a day filled with community connection and hometown pride. Pink Friday brings a small-business spin to the traditional Black Friday rush and reminds everyone just how powerful local support can be.
The Birth of Pink Friday
Pink Friday arrived in Abilene in 2021 thanks to Jamie Stroda of Aksent Boutique, who introduced this national movement to her hometown.
“Pink Friday is all about choosing community,” Stroda said. “When you shop local, you’re lifting up your neighbors, strengthening small businesses, and making Abilene shine during the holidays.”
Why Shopping Local Matters
Shopping in Abilene is more than checking off a holiday list. It is a commitment to your community. When you shop at local stores, you are supporting business owners who invest in Abilene every day. You also enjoy the immediate satisfaction of taking your gifts home without waiting on delivery delays or shipping surprises.
Abilene offers a welcoming blend of boutiques, specialty shops, and unique experiences. Pink Friday is the perfect time to explore them all and make a meaningful impact with every purchase.
Shoppers: Take the Pink Friday Pledge
When you shop local, you are making a statement:
• You support your community.
• You employ local families.
• You help build parks and schools.
• You contribute to local charities.
• You support the dreams of a business owner.
• You are welcomed and appreciated by a community that cares.
This holiday season, let’s come together, think local first, and paint Abilene pink. Small choices on November 21 can make a big difference for local businesses and the families behind them.
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 21, and celebrate Pink Friday by shopping Abilene first.
