Shawn Henessee will begin in January duties as the City of Salina's new assistant city manager.
The city announced this morning that Henessee had been selected from a field of 72 candidates from across the country.
"The individuals that applied for this new position had a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets," Salina City Manager Mike Schrage said. "What set Shawn apart is his legal knowledge and his diverse experience in both city and county government that can be beneficial for our organization and community. We are excited that Shawn picked Salina for his return to Kansas, and look forward to working with him."
Henessee currently resides in Vancouver, Wash., and is a Kansas native. He has served in county and city management roles in Clark County, Wash.; Pleasant Hill and Jackson County, Mo.; and Marinette County, Wis. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wichita State University, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Kansas, and a juris doctor from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
The assistant city manager position was added in 2021.
